SAN ANDRES ISLAND

San Andrés Island, better known as SAI by its initials, is an island in the Colombian Caribbean. It is the largest of the islands that are part of the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina. Its official language, along with Spanish, is Creole and the ethnic group originating from this area is called Raizales.

 

In its “sea of seven colors” it has the most representative marine and coastal ecosystems of the tropics, such as: coral reefs, mangroves, lagoons, reefs, seagrasses, wetlands, beaches, open sea and tropical dry forest. For this reason, it is recognized for being an ecological zone with the title of Biosphere Reserve, according to UNESCO.


Water sports, gastronomic offerings and tourist activities are also protagonists on this island.
